Happy Father's Day to all the real father's, real men
Proverbs 23:24
The father of godly children has cause for joy.
What a pleasure to have children who are wise.
- One thing that I have learned and would like to share is that dad's are not just providers,
shelterers', and disciplinarians, dad's are teacher's who are to teach and instruct their children
in life and the way to live and go. In Genesis 18:12 Sarah who is Abraham’s wife is
noted
saying, “my master-my husband.” The word master is defined as a male
teacher or tutor;
someone of great learning skill or ability. So consider this, Sarah first called Abraham
master
before she did husband; in other words, Sarah was declaring to Abraham
that he must first be
master of himself, and his character before he could be
called her husband and begin a family
together! Unfortunately today it seems, men have not mastered their character and their
obedience to God in order to lead their children and wives to do the same.
In
speaking of mastering character I am compelled to mention the fruits of the
spirit which
Galatians 5:22 lists as love, joy (joy, whose pre-requisite is
thankfulness; you cannot have joy
in anything unless you are thankful for it
first. So, find something to be thankful about every
single day, and you will
find joy every single day.), peace, faithfulness, humility, kindness,
goodness,
and self- control. All of these are essential in living a prosperous single
life, but even
more vital in being a father and leader/teacher.
